Dr. Awungjia Leke-Tambo grew up in Cameroon, West Africa. She went on to the University of Minnesota, Morris, USA, where she completed her undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry. She received her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia (Lewis Katz school of Medicine at Temple University) and went on to complete her residency training in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. She then completed dual fellowship subspecialty training in pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine at Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She is triple board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal medicine, pulmonary diseases and Critical Care medicine.
She currently practices critical care medicine with Sound Physicians: The Intensivist Group at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center, Houston. She has many interests in the field of pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine, acute respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis and bronchoscopy.
